What does integrative psychiatry mean?
Integrative psychiatry combines evidence-based medication management with a broader, whole-person approach to mental health. This may include attention to sleep, nutrition, lifestyle, stress, and other biological or environmental factors that can impact mental health. Is integrative psychiatry right for me?
This approach is ideal for individuals interested in a more comprehensive view of their mental health, including both medical treatment and lifestyle factors. It may not be appropriate for those seeking quick or single-visit medication solutions without ongoing care.
Why choose an integrative approach?
Many mental health conditions are influenced by multiple factors, including biology, lifestyle, and environment. An integrative approach aims to address these factors together, supporting more sustainable and individualized outcomes over time.
What is integrative or functional psychiatry?
Integrative psychiatry combines evidence-based medication management with a broader, whole-person approach to mental health. This may include attention to sleep, nutrition, lifestyle, stress, and other biological or environmental factors that can impact mental health
How is this different from traditional psychiatry?
Traditional psychiatry often focuses primarily on diagnosis and medication. An integrative approach still uses evidence-based medications when appropriate, but also considers underlying contributors such as lifestyle, medical conditions, and overall wellness to support long-term outcomes.
Do you still prescribe medications?
Yes. Medications are prescribed when clinically appropriate. An integrative approach does not replace standard psychiatric treatment but enhances it by considering additional factors that may influence your mental health.
Do you offer natural or alternative treatments?
When appropriate, treatment may include discussion of non-pharmacologic options such as lifestyle modifications, sleep optimization, and evidence-informed supplements. These are used thoughtfully and safely alongside standard psychiatric care when indicated.
Are supplements required as part of treatment?
No. Supplements are not required. Any recommendations are individualized and based on clinical appropriateness, patient preference, and safety.
Will I need lab testing?
In some cases, lab testing may be recommended to evaluate potential medical or biological factors that could be contributing to symptoms. This is determined on an individual basis.
Is this approach evidence-based?
Yes. Care is grounded in evidence-based psychiatric practice while incorporating additional factors supported by emerging research and clinical experience.
Can I choose a medication-only approach?
Yes. Treatment is individualized. Patients may choose a more traditional medication-focused approach or a broader integrative plan based on their preferences and clinical needs.
Do you coordinate care with other providers?
When appropriate, care may be coordinated with primary care providers, therapists, or other specialists to support a comprehensive treatment plan.
Is integrative psychiatry right for me?

ADHD evaluations are available. Stimulant medications may be prescribed when clinically appropriate; however, a comprehensive evaluation is required. Documentation, prior records, or additional assessment may be requested. Not all patients are appropriate candidates for stimulant treatment.
Will I need labs, testing, or outside records?
